Things to Do in Orange Beach When It Rains

There is always that inevitable rainy day during your vacation where you can find yourself wondering what to do. Instead of waiting around at your SeaChase condo rental for when the sun comes back out, make a rainy day plan! We’ve put together some of our favorite things to do in Orange Beach when it rains.

Sip Coffee

Take a break from spending your morning outside on the beach and visit one of Orange Beach’s most well known and highly rated coffee shops. While the morning aroma of the ocean and salty air is one of the best parts of a beach vacation, the smell of fresh-brewed coffee in the morning is a close second!

We highly recommend visiting The Southern Grind Coffee House. While famous for its specialty coffees, The Southern Grind also serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a relaxing yet modern setting. This coffee shop is located in The Wharf, a shopping dining, and entertainment complex that is packed with many things to do on a rainy day.

Spend Time at The Wharf

Since you’ve already started your day at The Wharf with a delicious cup of coffee from the Southern Grind, now you can take advantage of everything this exciting area has to offer! The Wharf is truly a one-stop-shop where you can transform a rainy day into one of your most fun and memorable days.

Looking for fun activities that the kids will enjoy? You can solve puzzles as a team at the Breakout Escape Room, play laser tag and arcade games at Arena The Next Level, or spend your rainy day catching a new release at the AMC 15 Movie Theater. There are also tons of shopping and dining options for all the adults in your group as well!

Visit a Museum

One of the best places to visit on a rainy day is the Naval Aviation Museum. This massive museum is just over the Alabama - Florida border in Pensacola, about a 30-minute drive away from SeaChase. This is the largest naval aviation museum in the world and the best part is that admission is free! At over 350,000 square feet, you could spend an entire day exploring the many exhibits and over 150 restored aircraft on display. There is also a gift shop and restaurant at the museum!

Other smaller museum options that focus on the local area's history include The Orange Beach Indian and Sea Museum as well as the Gulf Shores Museum.

Play at the Factory

The Factory Gulf Shores is a trampoline and amusement park that the kids will absolutely love! What better way to use all that stored up energy than bouncing around on a rainy day. Parents can bounce too, or watch the action from the seating areas, one of which has a bird’s eye view of the play area.

There is much more to do at The Factory than bouncing on the trampolines, including arcade games, the flight simulator, dodgeball, a ninja course, and more! Special events are held that cater to certain age groups, including the “Munchkin Jump” (ages 6 and under) and “Teen Night” (ages 13 - 19).
